There’s a direct link between relaxation and the ability to keep stress under control, which in turn leads to a longer disease-free life, lived to the highest potential.
The term ‘Relaxation Response’ was coined by Dr. Herbert Benson, founder of Harvard’s Mind/Body Medical Institute. The response is defined as the ability of your body to release chemicals and brain signals that make your muscles and organs slow down and increase blood flow to the brain. Regular practice of the Relaxation Response can be an effective treatment for a wide range of stress-related disorders, which affect many of us these days, be it in the corporate world, creative disciplines or between the four walls of our homes.
The Relaxation Response is the opposite reaction to the “fight or flight” response, which occurs naturally when we perceive that we are under excessive pressure and can become harmful when elicited frequently. The Relaxation Response brings the body back to pre-stress levels as it’s a physical state of stillness, which engages the other part of our nervous system—the parasympathetic nervous system.
There are many methods to elicit this Response in our bodies and minds including visualisation, progressive muscle relaxation, breathing techniques, meditation, and yoga amongst others. Again, it is about unlocking blockages that obstruct the optimal flow of energy.
UnlockYourBlock teaches individuals or groups a variety of methods to promote the relaxation response, some of which designed to work in just a few minutes, which you’ll learn and own for life.
